Medical First Responders provide immediate lifesaving care to critical patients who access the emergency medical services system.
Requirements: About 75 hours and high school diploma or GED.
Cost: Approximately $500.

Emergency Medical Technicians hav the basic knowledge and skills necessary to stabilize and safely transport patients ranging from non-emergency and routine medical transports to life threatening emergencies.
Requirements: About 120 hours of coursework, plus practical training.
Cost: Approximately $1,500 - $2,000

A Paramedic is an allied health professional whose primary focus is to provide advanced emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients who enter the emergency medical services system.
Requirements: Between 1,200 - 1,800 hours of coursework plus practical training (must be pre-certified as an EMT before becoming a paramedic).
Cost: Approximately $8,000
